Friedberg

With an escapist blend of post punk, alt-rock and alluring pop-infused songwriting, Friedberg’s sound is primed for a night out.

The project itself was born out of a vision to create a totally new sound for London-based, Austrian born Anna Friedberg and backed by a stellar cast of touring musicians; Emily Linden (guitar, vocals), Cheryl Pinero (bass, vocals) and Laura Williams (drums), they have established exactly that.

Friedberg stormed onto the scene in 2019 with their debut single ‘BOOM’, a dissonant siren’s call with its ominous riff and seductive benign vocals that solidified the early, pulsating Friedberg sound. The bands follow up track ‘Go Wild’ - mixed by Ash Workman (Christine & The Queens, Metronomy) - quickly yielded sync placements with FIFA 20, BBC's Normal People, Netflix’s Biohackers and Fox Sports. While further releases 'Yeah' and 'Midi8' gained sync placements with iPhone 14Pro Online Spot (2022) and Makeup Forever (2021 and 2022).

Friedberg, meaning ''peaceful mountain'', brought forth a frenetic and feisty sound with their debut EP ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah’; recorded in equal parts across Berlin and London with collaborators Daniel Brandt (Brandt Brauer Frick), Matthias Biermann (Roosevelt) and Matt Allchin (Florence & The Machine, Soak, George Ezra).

Friedbergs extensive international touring (UK, EU & U.S) has furthered Friedberg’s impact, while continuing to grow vast support from media, with ‘Go Wild’ hitting the #1 track at alt. radio station FM4 (Austria) and landing the band on a number of Ones to Watch lists including the prestigious Musikexpress in Germany.

The debut EP was heavily influenced by 1980s New York band ESG and the minimalist, percussive style of LCD Soundsystem. Friedberg's productions are approached with a keen ear for rhythmic elements, while harnessing the energy of their highly praised live shows. The past two years saw Friedberg gain four more #1s on FM4, and supports across BBC 6music, Radio 1, Radio X, Triple J (Australia), Primavera Radio (ES), KCRW (US), Deutschland funknova, Flux FM, You FM, Radio Nova, 1Live, Radio Eins (Ger), and features in The Sunday Times, the Forty-Five, Glamour, Mystic Sons and more.

2022 saw Friedberg perform at Eurosonic and take on the U.S. with a twelve show tour supporting Hot Chip and again opening for the band at Brixton Academy in London, followed by a run of European Summer festivals. The band are currently working on new music with Dan Carey, Joe Goddard and Al Doyle from Hot Chip as well as London producer Oli Bayston.
